Visiting Assistant Professor, in the Department of Geography beginning in August of the 2021-2022 academic year, with possible renewal upon mutual agreement for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The department seeks a human geographer with expertise in human-environment interactions. Preference will be given for candidates with experience teaching GIS, and natural resource management experience is desirable. The new colleague will teach 24 credits per 10-month academic year (standard courses are 4 credits), which will include introduction to human geography, world regional geography, an upper division course in human and environmental geography, introductory GIS, and possibly a first year general education course. Research is not expected in this position; however, we welcome candidates who have a research agenda that engages undergraduate students.

Ph.D. in geography or closely related field is required (ABD considered). The successful candidate will be able to show a commitment to teaching and mentoring of students, willingness to actively infuse multiple perspectives and critical thinking into pedagogy, evidence of effective teaching and a passion for developing as a great teacher, interest in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments on campus, and a commitment to fostering equity and inclusion.
