Job Summary

Dalton State College School of Health Professions seeks a fulltime, tenure track Assistant Professor of Respiratory Therapy & Clinical Coordinator. Position beginning August 1, 2021. Must have a Master's degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar field an accredited program, an active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, and current (or eligibility) Georgia and Tennessee State licenses to practice Respiratory Therapy required. Candidates should have a minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which at least two (2) years should have been spent in clinical respiratory care and preferably at least two (2) years in a teaching position in an accredited respiratory program. Formal teacher training and experience is recommended. Candidates should have extensive knowledge/ experience working in most areas of respiratory care including pediatrics, intensive care, management, training and education. Excellent spoken/written English communication skills and a commitment to teaching and service excellence.

The Dalton State Respiratory Therapy program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). This position should be a clinician able to teach across the curriculum and specifically monitor students in a clinical setting.

Hiring Salary Range: $47,405 - $48,000

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate respiratory therapy courses including skills laboratory and clinical courses. Candidate must be willing to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery. Courses are taught on-campus; this is not an online teaching position. Assessment of student competency is also part of the position responsibilities (for both SACS and CSWE). (75%)
  • Advising Respiratory Therapy students and/or providing supervision for students in the clinical placements will be required of this position. Scheduling student clinical rotations, administration of the electronic student evaluation and attendance system. Additionally, assistant professors serve on faculty committees at the College and School and other community initiatives and participate in other appropriate service and professional activities as needed. (25%)
Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must hold an earned Master's degree.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • An active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, and current (or eligibility) Georgia and Tennessee State licenses to practice Respiratory Therapy
Preferred Qualifications
  • College classroom teaching experience.
  • At least two (2) years should have been spent in clinical respiratory care and preferably at least two (2) years in a teaching position in an accredited respiratory program.
  • Extensive knowledge/experience working in most areas of respiratory care including pediatrics, intensive care, management, training and education.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar area
  • Applicants must hold and maintain appropriate licensure and be in good standing with licensing authorities
  • Evidence of teaching/classroom effectiveness
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in face-to-face classrooms
  • Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and use applied learning approaches
