Job Description

The Department of Anthropology at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a tenure-track position in socio-cultural anthropology, beginning Fall 2021. The rank will be Assistant Professor or Instructor depending on qualifications. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate degree in Anthropology.

We seek a colleague who does not duplicate our present departmental interests. Preferred topical areas are medical anthropology, language and culture, race and ethnicity, or science and technology. Preferred geographic areas of research and teaching expertise include Mexico/Central America, South Asia, or Southeast Asia. Applicants should have experience conducting and analyzing extensive, long-term fieldwork. The successful candidate will teach courses in their area of expertise and contribute to a rotation of core courses in the Anthropology major, including our senior level ethnographic methods course and our anthropological theory course. Teaching load is 3/2, which includes contributions to the college's general education program, Connections. Faculty at Franklin & Marshall maintain active research programs and contribute to the College's shared governance.
