The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time tenure-track position
of
Assistant Professor of Biology. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching and to developing
innovative curriculum, labs and research experiences for students. Full-time, twelve-credit hour teaching load will include online and
campus-based courses in support of the Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree, Allied Health programs, and the core curriculum. Teaching
assignments may include lecture and laboratory sections of general biology, anatomy and physiology, as well as courses in nutrition,
pathophysiology, and other allied health biology courses. The successful applicant may also develop and teach laboratory courses for
non-majors and courses in their area of expertise. Courses are taught using a variety of modalities including in-person, hybrid offerings,
and online instruction. Duties of the position may also include supporting the university's Early College Program. The appointment will

UMA
serves a mix of traditional and non-traditional students and offers a wide array of liberal arts and professional programs leading to
certificates, associate and baccalaureate degrees. Programs are delivered on campus and using a network of University centers and sites
across the state and internationally. The Biology program offers general education and degree specific courses using modalities including
in-person, interactive television, video conferencing, and online instruction. The successful candidate will be active in university service
through student advising, curriculum development, committee activity, and community outreach.
Salary: A typical
salary for this tenure-track, academic-year appointment is in the high 40s to low 50s and is commensurate with qualifications and
experience. The University offers an excellent fringe-benefits package.
Required Qualifications: The successful
applicant will be broadly trained in biology, possess a PhD in biology or a closely related discipline, have college-level teaching
experience to include teaching online, and be committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Ability to teach BIO 345 Pathophysiology
and BIO 210 Anatomy and Physiology.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with course or curriculum development,
using new technologies in teaching, mentoring student research projects or internships, discipline related work experience, and teaching
non-traditional students preferred. Preference for ability to teach BIO 104 Nutrition.
