Job Description

The School of Arts and Humanities at Stephens College invites applications for a fulltime, non-tenure track faculty position in the 3-year, 2-summer BFA Costume Design program beginning Fall 2021.The position includes both academic and design responsibilities in a department offering a BFA in Musical Theatre, Acting, Technical Theatre and Costume Design. 

Responsibilities:
  1. Teach/design the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
  2. Responsible for the oversight of the costume shop operation (maintenance and organization), as well as oversight of all costume shop staff.
  3. Responsible for the oversight and/or costume design of multiple productions in the performing arts season which includes theatre, dance and vocal performances.
  4. Advise and supervise student costume designers in the BFA program.
  5. Support guest artists as assigned.
  6. Collaborate with program chairs, faculty, directors, and designers.
  7. Work daily with students in all areas of costume production. Supervise students in proper and safe ways of working: encourage and maintain professional standards.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • MFA in Costume Design
  • Demonstrated years of professional experience.
  • Experience teaching at the University/College level
  • Evidence of communication and collaboration skills demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population.
  • Evidence of successful professional design work.
