BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Rust college is
seeking a dynamic leader for the position of Chair of the Division of Education. The applicant selected for the position will serve as the
Endowed Chair.
The applicant will be responsible for developing a shared vision through collaborative leadership to sustain an
environment and curriculum that represents all backgrounds and promotes excellence in teaching, research, and service. Specifically, the
applicant will teach undergraduate courses in the area of Education and the applicant will give administrative leadership to faculty members
in the Division of Education.
The applicant will be responsible for advising students majoring in Education and the applicant
will work with Education faculty in recruitment, curriculum revision, and strategic planning. The applicant must be knowledgeable about
NCATE, TEAC, SACs, and State Accreditation. The applicant must also be knowledgeable about test preparation, Praxis I and II, and Title
II.
The Division of Education has majors in Elementary, Social Science, Mathematics, and Biology Education. The division offers
the BA, BS, BSW, and an AA degree in these fields and Child Care Management.
QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must
hold a Doctoral degree in a field related to education, education leadership, K-12 Education or Education Administration. The applicant must
have at least five years of substantial professional experience in administration, including academic and organizational leadership and
supervision of faculty and staff. The applicant must also show a record of scholarly work including expertise in grant writing and teaching.
The applicant must have a very good command of English and communication skills to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
with students, faculty, administrator, and the general public.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: The academic year for the
Division Chair is usually August 15 - June 15 (10 months). The Federal Government requires that every individual hired since May 31, 1987,
complete the I-9. This requirement is in response to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Form I-9 has been developed to verify
that persons are eligible to work in the United States.
