Job Summary/Basic Function

This Pathophysiology faculty position will fulfill a critical need within the Department of Medical Education in physiology/medical microbiology/immunology at WSUBSOM. This position will be responsible for developing and teaching curricular content to undergraduate medical students primarily in the clinical medical microbiology and immunology disciplines. The incumbent is also expected to establish or continue an active extramurally funded research program.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidate has or will have -

PhD, MD or equivalent degree in the biomedical sciences. Strong record of academic accomplishments in the cardiovascular/pulmonary/renal and/or neuroscience disciplines, preferably with a focus on neuro-immunology or cardiovascular/pulmonary/renal inflammatory diseases. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Assistant Professor level candidates must meet all requirements above.

Associate Professor level candidates must meet all requirements above, plus have at least five years experience as an Assistant Professor with an exemplary scholarly portfolio and supervisory experience and meet all Associate Professor Promotion requirements.

Full Professor candidates must fulfill all the requirements of Associate Professor along with at least five years' experience a the Associate Professor along with an exemplary scholarly portfolio and leadership experience and meet all Professor Promotion requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching undergraduate medical students. Experience with engaged/active learning modalities (e.g., Team-Based Learning, Peer Instruction, problem-based learning).

Essential Functions and percent of time

40%- Lead and coordinate a module in the undergraduate medical curriculum, with primary focus in clinical microbiology/ immunology. Other medical student teaching as assigned.

50% - Maintain an active research program.

10% - Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Special contract position with continuation dependent on funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
