Division Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts-Assistant Professor

Talladega College invites applications for the position Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts and Professor beginning August, 2021. 

Responsibilities: Deans have the responsibility for the implementation of educational policies under their academic areas. Deans are expected to facilitate delivery and assessment of all programs in the division to meet teaching excellence and student learning objectives of the college, while establishing and maintaining partnerships. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising faculty recruitment, hiring and evaluation processes within his/her division; providing leadership in developing new academic programs and curriculum improvement; providing leadership in outcomes assessment; recommending students for degrees who have satisfied graduation requirements in their major fields; reviewing and approving department course schedules; assisting the Office of Alumni Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness with tracking graduates; and planning and allocating budget resources. The deans' report directly to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs who has the authority to assign other duties as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 9 credit hours in the teaching discipline within Humanities and Fine Arts per semester. A commitment to participate in division and college-wide activities is also expected.

Requirements: Terminal degree in English, English Language Arts, History, Mass Media Studies, Music Performance, African American Studies, or Fine Arts or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in one of the teaching disciplines in Humanities and Fine Arts. The applicant must have at least three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the college level. Administrative experience at the college level preferred.
