Job Description

Position Summary:

The Master of Human Resource (MHR) Program in the Hamilton Holt School at Rollins College is seeking applicants for a visiting position in Human Resources Management at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2021.

The position includes teaching graduate courses in the MHR program in the Hamilton Holt School and undergraduate courses in Human Resource Management in the Department of Business. The ability to teach other required and/or elective courses at the graduate and undergraduate level is highly desirable. Other responsibilities of the positions may include advising, program and curriculum development, assurance of learning (AOL), service activities, general education, and research. The ability and willingness to develop and sustain an active research agenda and output is expected. The willingness to teach blended and evening courses is also expected.

This is a one-year contract with possibility to renew. The normal teaching load will be the equivalent of eight courses a year, typically four courses per semester. Rollins College is committed to liberal education and expects faculty to contribute to the general education programs of the college. Summer teaching may be available through the evening program.

Qualifications/Required Skills

  • Doctorate in Human Resource Management or a closely affiliated discipline, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution - ABDs will be considered.
  • Some college-level teaching (graduate and undergraduate) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish academic articles is expected.
  • Practical experience is highly desirable.
  • Candidates must have the ability to develop and deliver curriculum; meet the demands of the position in a timely manner; and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Candidates should have strong oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates are expected to be up to date on current topics in Human Resource Management as a critical business discipline, including exposure to the developing field of HR Analytics. Candidates need to have the ability to translate the recent theory and apply it to realistic business applications. Teaching in a highly interactive manner with students is part of the hallmark Rollins experience.

The Hamilton Holt School houses the MHR Program at Rollins College. Currently, courses are offered in the evenings and the MHR program offers one Masters' degree option. This VAP will likely also teach in the Department of Business. The Department of Business houses our AACSB International accredited undergraduate business programs. The department offers undergraduate majors in Business Management and International Business. The Business Management major is offered to both day and evening students while the International Business major is offered to only day students.
