Job Description


Saint Elizabeth University ( announces the availability of a full time Assistant or Associate Professor and Director of the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D). in Counseling Psychology program position starting in August, 2021. The Psy.D. Program in Counseling Psychology is designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure of the State of New Jersey and is APA accredited, on contingency. Many of our graduates have permits or are licensed psychologists in New Jersey. 

The Director of the Doctoral Program (DDP) is responsible for the overall operations of the doctoral program, including, but not limited to, the implementation of the program's practitioner-scholar model. The DDP is further responsible for evaluating and admitting students, recruiting faculty, monitoring students' progress, meeting accreditation requirements, etc. The DDP is assisted by the Associate Director for Clinical Training (ADCT), the core Psy.D. faculty, and other Psychology Department faculty as necessary. The Director of the Doctoral Program also teaches in the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs; serves on dissertation committees; advises and supports students; and assists with departmental and university initiatives.   • Applicants should demonstrate commitment to social justice, a foundational element of the mission of our doctoral program. 
  • A doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology is required, preferably from an APA-accredited program with successful completion of an APA-accredited internship. Experience with APA accreditation is preferred.
  • Graduate and undergraduate teaching experience is required along with demonstrated scholarly/research accomplishments. 
  • Licensure as a psychologist in New Jersey for at least two years is required, and clinical supervision experience is preferred. 

About the Department of Psychology at Saint Elizabeth University

The Department of Psychology is housed in the School of Professional Studies. The Department offers a BA in psychology, an MA in counseling psychology with three tracks (30 credit counseling psychology, 48 credit school counseling, and 60 credit mental health counseling), and the Psy.D. in counseling psychology degree.
