Assistant /Associate Professor

The primary purpose of the Public Administration Department is to deliver high quality educational experiences in the field of public administration. This purpose includes conducting quality instruction, research and service to Southeastern United States with a global perspective.

The Department of Public Administration has 6 full-time faculty with terminal degrees in the discipline, all teaching full course loads, and 7 adjunct professors. The successful candidate will need to have an expertise in teaching courses such as Personnel Management, Principles of Public Administration and Finance and Budgeting.

Candidates should also have an expertise in Public Health Administration and Non-Profit Organizations. The successful candidate is expected to engage in active research, grantsmanship, and advising students. Community service is a core value of the Department of Public Administration at NCCU.

Since teaching assignments include offering core courses, elective courses, and professional DE courses, directing capstone courses like internships, supervising thesis and certifications, it is necessary that the department has adequate faculty to offer these courses to include the needed elective courses.

Applicants should have knowledge of teaching online courses and experience teaching at the graduate level.

• The successful candidate must be able to teach one or more of our core classes in public human resource management, qualitative analysis, and principles of public management.
• The candidate also must be able to contribute to other core courses or to contribute to one of our specializations in Law and Society, Human Resource Management, Public Health Policy, Nonprofit Management and Urban and Regional Planning.

Courses will be delivered both face to face and asynchronously/synchronously online.

Ph.D. in Public Administration or related field

• A doctorate in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, or a closely related field is required.
• ABD candidates will be considered, however, the candidate must complete their doctorate prior to starting the position in August 2021.
