Division/Department Information

The Department of Biological Sciences at the Queens campus of St. John's University located in New York City is seeking applications for one-year full-time Assistant or Associate Professor faculty positions with the possibility of renewal. The Department of Biological Sciences includes roughly 1000 undergraduate B.S. students and 40 graduate students, both M.S. and Ph.D. We have thirteen tenure-track or tenured faculty members who maintain active, funded research programs. Our introductory biology courses typically have enrollments around 100 students, and upper-level courses can vary from 40-120 students. Responsibilities

Contract Faculty teach four courses each semester. These are typically a mix of introductory biology courses and upper level courses areas such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, or virology.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a PhD or other graduate degree in a biological field. Ideally candidates will have experience teaching introductory courses and have expertise in areas of anatomy and physiology and/or biochemistry and molecular biology.
