Summary of Position: The primary responsibilities for
the position are teaching, advising, recruiting and program coordination for the Industrial Technology and Management program for the Auburn
Hills, Warren and Grand Rapids locations and other sites as they become available. The individual will cover various courses in ITM and
related areas. S/he will participate in development and improvement of curriculum and curriculum delivery; participate in service work
including student engagement activities and committees; and engage in scholarly activities and professional development aligned with current
and emergent programmatic needs. This position will be required to teach off-campus and/or on-line. This position will be required to
utilize our Learning Management System (LMS; currently, Canvas).
Develop and teach engineering management and professional practice
graduate courses.
Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing
Required Education:
Master's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or related engineering field
OR Master's degree in any discipline provided there is a Professional Engineers License plus BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering,
Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related engineering field.
Required Work Experience: At least
five years of manufacturing/quality experience within an engineering discipline.
Excellent written and oral communications,
inter-personal skills, presentation skills, and team and relationship building skills.
Working knowledge and demonstrated experience
with manufacturing systems and methods.
Required Licenses and Certifications: Additional
Education/Experiences to be Considered:
- Doctorate degree in manufacturing engineering or a related discipline.
- Teaching and/or industrial trainer experience, management experience in manufacturing engineering or a related engineering
discipline.
- Teaching experience with upper level undergraduate and graduate level.
- Experience with grants and grant
management.
- Experience with applied research.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Delivering
courses in both a classroom and an on-line format.
- Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include
advising students, orientation, registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which
are scheduled at times convenient for students) and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance. Faculty members
may be required to teach off-campus.
- Preparing and delivering courses utilizing effective methods that ensure that all course
outcomes are met.
- Student advising, internship coordination, recruiting students, developing industry relationships, developing
curriculum, and serving on various committees within the university.
- Teaching at regional satellite campuses may also be required,
as well as working with student organizations.
