Job Description



Reporting to the Dental Hygiene program director, the assistant professor of dental hygiene is a full-time, term track role which provides didactic and clinical instruction for students in the program including lecture, laboratory, and clinical courses while adhering to the Regis College and Dental Hygiene guidelines and advancing the missions of the program and the institution.

Essential Functions

  • Provide didactic and clinical instruction of the dental hygiene curriculum and patient process of care to achieve entry-level competency according to accreditation and program requirements.
  • Provide orientation, direction and guidance to students.
  • Evaluate students by use of skill evaluations in keeping with appropriate teaching methodology.
  • Use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning, both clinically and didactically, at a college level.
  • Participate in curriculum development/assessment and accreditation processes.
  • Participated in Dental Hygiene program and university-wide meetings.

Other Responsibilities

  • Actively communicate and collaborate with the program director and collaborate with colleagues and Regis community members.
  • Engage in teaching, service, and scholarship consistent with the requirements of the Regis College Faculty Handbook.
  • Demonstrate and promote excellence, professionalism, enthusiasm and teamwork.
  • Provide academic advisement to dental hygiene students.
  • Achieve continual professional growth and development.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Serve as the Student American Dental Hygiene Association (SADHA) advisor.
  • Serve on the Quality Assurance Committee.
Additional Information

  • Master's degree required.
  • Massachusetts Dental Hygiene license in good standing and current Massachusetts local anesthesia Permit L.
  • Ability to uphold the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
  • Compliance with dental hygiene governance and regulatory agencies.
  • Active membership status in American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA).
  • Familiarity with current periodontal assessment guidelines (AAP) and knowledge of dental hygiene accreditation and regulation policies and guidelines.
  • Minimum of three years of dental hygiene teaching experience and five years of dental hygiene clinical experience.
  • Recent evidence of continuing education in the dental field and teaching methodology.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, TalEval, LMS (Moodle preferred), Dexis and Dentrix.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Normal dental office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
