The University is now looking to augment the senior leadership team with the appointment of a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research. This role will be right at the heart of the University's aspirations and the new PVC will bring new skills, new perspectives and new drive to deliver the new strategy.

The new PVC Research will be able to build from a position of strength. The strength and depth of the University's research was emphasised by the 2014 REF performance, with a strong culture of translation and impact that has continued to flourish. The introduction of the Bath Beacons programme is pivotal in continuing this strong performance. The PVC Research is responsible for the strategic oversight of all activity relating to research at the University of Bath. Priorities will include: increasing the global profile of the University's research; growing the University's research portfolio building on recent successes to create areas of critical mass; and forging closer links with national and international research policy-makers. The postholder will be a member of the University Executive Board and will be expected to work strategically and collaboratively with other senior leaders to help shape and deliver the University's strategy and vision.

This is an opportunity for a strategic individual who can think long-term. Strong candidates will bring a demonstrable track-record of leading change and driving innovation with respect to research. They will also have a credible research track-record. They must be superb internal and external relationship-builders, with the ability to operate at a strategic level. An ability to influence and inspire colleagues across the institution will be critical.
