Job Description

The position's primary focus will be in the areas of computer operations, computer repair, wire and cable installation, user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. Performs a variety of information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services to the entire College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, including county offices under the Cooperative Extension Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Focuses service areas in computer operations, computer repair, wire and cable installation, user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. Performs a variety of information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services to the entire College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, including county offices under the Cooperative Extension Program.
  • Monitors, operates, coordinates, assists, and trains others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals to achieve the desired result. Utilizes computer equipment, software, and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of customer assistance, equipment maintenance and repair, and computer operations assignments.
  • Assists the supervisor in managing the Agrio-Innovation & Technology Center (AITC). Assists in managing end-user services, coordination with AgriLife IT, Information Security Awareness, Assessment, and Compliance with DIR in the state of Texas.
  • Manages student workers. Provide updates supervisor on the status of projects and technical issues. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support. Provide information and training to students, staff, and faculty on established policies and procedures or services provided.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.



Other Requirements:

  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of five years of experience.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of professional experience in the areas of IT Tech support in a diverse environment.
  • Knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, programming languages, database, App building, and operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols and some experience with computer applications and operating systems.
