Job Description


JOB OBJECTIVES: The Coordinator of Student Activities and Career Services will work under the direction of the Director of Student Programs and Traditions to perform any necessary duties related to career services and student activities. The Coordinator of Student Activities and Career Services will engage students from all academic programs in career planning and preparation, as well as provide support in the planning and execution of Student Affairs events. The Coordinator of Student Activities and Career Services will engage students in planning for careers, developing business plans, preparing for job searches, and participating in campus wide career fairs. The Coordinator of Student Activities and Career Services will also maintain external job postings and gather data about job placement rates and report statistics to the appropriate departments and accrediting bodies.  



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Plan and develop Career Fairs, Eatucations, Vendor Spotlights, and any other career services related events and associated marketing 
  • Develop a weekly newsletter and social media presence for students including activities, announcements, DFW events, and discount offerings
  • Maintain contact with local businesses to offer discounted services and products to students and employees; Manage discount programs for venues and discounted ticket sales for sporting events
  • Offer personalized employment and career development activities including preparing them for job searches including resume review, mock interview, business plan development and other career counseling tasks as needed for students and alumni
  • Track and report on job placement rates
  • Approve external postings for our professional opportunities websites including 360 Marketplace and Simplicity platforms
  • Work cooperatively with other entities that serve the education and career development needs of the student body
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of additional University-wide events such as New Student orientation, Graduation and student transition ceremonies
  • Maintain budget for Career Services 
  • Serve on University committees as assigned.
  • Preform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Programs and Traditions.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 
  • Two to four years of experience in Career Services for higher education, Human Resources, event planning, vendor relationships preferred.  



  • Ability to plan and execute student events with attention to career services related events 
  • Ability to design programing to enhance likelihood of job placement
  • good communication, organizational and public relations skills; professional appearance and attitude
  • Ability to relate to professional level students
  • Good reading and writing skills


  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal.  Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. 
  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.
