Job Description

 

The Department of History at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in Indigenous History to begin August 1, 2021.

This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Teaching load is 4/4.

 

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following requirements:

  • PhD in history or a related field with substantial coursework in history. Individuals who are “all but dissertation” (ABD) will be considered; however, the degree must be awarded within twelve months of the first semester of employment.
  • Ability to teach introductory 1000- and 2000-level survey courses in world and/or American history.
  • Ability to teach Indigenous history, including advanced courses in area of specialization (region and period open).
  • Ability to teach historical methods courses (i.e., HIST 2100 and HIST 4020).
  • Willingness and ability to engage in alternative modes of instruction, including online.
  • Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC’s Strategic Plan including a demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion.
