D'Youville invites innovative, creative and mission focused candidates to apply for a full-time position as a Community Dietitian. This is a grant funded position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2021. The selected candidate will design and implement nutrition programming offered in the Hub. Nutrition programming will be delivered to underserved and underrepresented residents of the West side of Buffalo, NY.
Under new leadership, D'Youville is immersed in ambitious change initiatives to improve health outcomes and engage the surrounding community. Dedicated to building thriving, healthy communities, D'Youville is nurturing new programming in the soon to open Health Professions Hub. The Hub will be home to a healthcare clinic, educational and workforce development opportunities, and the Hub Demonstration Kitchen.
Recognizing the role of food in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease, nutrition programming will be designed and implemented in the Hub Demonstration Kitchen to positively impact the health of the D'Youville's West Side neighbors. The Community Dietitian will be responsible to lead impactful, outcomes-based nutrition programming. The Community Dietitian is responsible for the design and implementation of nutrition programming that will include: hands-on culinary classes, live food demonstrations, medically tailored meal planning, recipe development, Farm to College markets, and group and individual nutrition education sessions. These programs will be delivered to underserved and underrepresented residents of the West side of Buffalo. The candidate must be able to engage with community members in the target population; establish community relationships; work well with multiple organizational units within D'Youville including overseeing students in supervised practice. The dietitian reports to the Program Director.
Designing, implementing and assessing nutrition programming Teaching cooking classes and offering food demonstrations Developing recipes and education materials
Planning medically tailored meals for varied disease states Maintaining food safety and sanitization protocols Assisting in submission of quarterly reports
Supervising performance of consultants Precepting nutrition and dietetics students
Maintaining operational policies and procedures and programmatic records
Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or a health-related field
Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR}
Experience in nutrition education, food access, and culinary nutrition preferred
ServSafe® Certification preferred
Preference will be given to individuals who speak a second language
Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and/or evenings as needed based on programming and staffing
