Adler U is currently seeking an Associate Chair for its Department of Counseling Integrated Programs (CIP) for Fall 2021.
Under the general guidance of the Counseling Integrated Programs Department Chair, the Online Associate Chair provides thought-leadership to the university while leveraging industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the Department of Counseling and Integrated Programs in the development, coordination, and implementation of online curriculum and delivery of online courses. The CIP Online Associate Chair oversees the quality of student online learning experience and provides support for department faculty online instruction. The position will have both administrative and teaching duties and reports to the Department Chair.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • A Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experiences in online teaching and curriculum development, advisement and coordinating supportive services to diverse student needs.
  • Expertise in program administration and assessment, and oversight of faculty teaching.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Eligible for Illinois Licensure and become licensed by the end of the first year of employment. State of Illinois Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

  • Operational knowledge in the application of CACREP standards in program development, teaching, and supervision.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and professional staff across the university.

Principal Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee online class quality and consistency to standards set by accreditation bodies, online teaching, and department practice.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Department of Educational Design and Innovation (EDI) for online course development and delivery and monitoring instructional and student progress reports.
  • Coordinate with the Online Training Director for all matters related to students' field training, and working with university offices for recruitment, orientation, and student services efforts in order to ensure the quality of students' experiences.
  • Coordinate with CIP program directors to formulate course creation schedule and online curriculum development.

 

Faculty Responsibilities:

Teaching:

Faculty members are expected to teach; develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught; and collaborate with department faculty on curriculum and program policies. In addition, faculty engage in student learning assessment activities, as well as participate in professional development activities. Full time faculty are expected to maintain a research agenda which includes chairing dissertations as well as serving as dissertation committee members.

Scholarship/Research:
Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarship activities, which may include submissions to peer-review journals or professional and/or lay readership publications; present at academic and professional conferences; and develop and deliver professional workshops and training programs for professionals.  Active engagement in ongoing research projects and other scholarly pursuits is encouraged.  Scholarship is broadly defined and consistent with our practitioner model and socially responsible practice focus.

Service:
Faculty members are expected to serve on committees at the campus, department, and professional level. Faculty must demonstrate engagement in and commitment to service to the community and profession consistent with the mission and values of the university.  Diversity, socially responsible practice, advocacy and service to underserved communities and populations are core elements of our training model and faculty mentor and support students, providing strong role models reflecting these priorities.

COVID-19 considerations: The health and safety of our staff/faculty and their families, as well as our stakeholders, potential candidates, and the communities we serve, are of the utmost importance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this role will temporarily be performed remotely. The successful candidate will train and work from home until such time as it is determined that role will return to the campus full-time.
