The Coordinator for the Radio Station provides leadership, oversees general operations and compliance, and fosters collaboration among various constituencies to ensure that the College’s radio station operates within the legal parameters set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and satisfies the needs of the students, the College, and the community.
The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge and execution of FCC rules and regulations and public file submissions, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry trends, institutional objectives, and college directives. The Coordinator works closely with the station Programmer and Community Specialist to best facilitate underwriting revenue and community relations, safeguard station assets and property, and acquire and maintain the most appropriate and affordable technical equipment for the station and student training and production. Other responsibilities include maintaining steady contact with the lead Mass Communications faculty and the WHFC advisory board to facilitate the practical application of station activities to student needs and goals, and Mass Comm curriculum; and serving as station representative to the campus community—such as public safety, maintenance, and human resources—and to the community at large.
This position includes oversight and management of fundraising, campus relations, underwriting and public service writing and announcing, on-air shifts, and performing other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Over one year and up to and including three years relevant work experience is required, including experience with radio station operations and familiarity with current FCC rules and regulations.
The ability to recruit and train students and community volunteers; manage financial transactions; represent the station at events; supervise staff; and knowledge of programming are required.
