Alder University is looking to add to its Clinical Faculty with a new position in the interprofessional training clinic, Adler Community Health Services (ACHS). ACHS provides supervised clinical training opportunities for master and doctoral-level graduate students in counselling and psychology in the Vancouver metro area. ACHS is in the process of preparing its doctoral psychology internship program for accreditation consideration with the Canadian Psychological Association.
Education & Experience
Qualifications include a doctoral degree in psychology with an active registration as a psychologist. Those registered in a province other than BC are welcome to apply with the expectation that they would immediately apply to transfer their registration to the College of Psychologist of BC.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Faculty provide clinical supervision across all levels of training to disciplines they are qualified to supervise. Clinical supervision includes trauma-informed psychotherapy (individual, couples, family and group) and triage, assessment, and/or psychological testing. Supervision of students is performed face-to-face, through live observation, and/or tele-supervision when appropriate. ACHS stresses evidence-informed practice through multiple theoretical orientations to expose students to a wide-range of high quality practices. In addition, the clinical faculty work with assigned community partners to coordinate student-delivered clinical services. When clinically indicated, the clinical faculty may also provide direct services. Clinical faculty collaborate together to design and deliver didactics and seminars to student trainees.
Clinical Faculty's responsibility in the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology will entail teaching one, three credit course per year. The Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program director works collaboratively with Clinical Faculty to select courses to teach in consideration of program needs and Clinical Faculty expertise. Clinical Faculty will not have other faculty duties such as advising, chairing dissertations, or program committee expectations.
