Job Description




Adler University is currently seeking a part-time (2days/week) Practicum Training Support Coordinator. Under the guidance of the Director of Training, this position is responsible for providing a wide range or administrative and operational services to the Director of Training for the Counselling Psychology Program. The Practicum Training Support Coordinator acts as liaison to facilitate and coordinate various training tasks, including collaboration and timely communication flow with students, practicum sites, faculty and staff as needed. Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the Counselling Psychology Program and the institution. Supports culture and development and management efforts.



  • Minimum completion of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive administrative duties and program coordination activities; preferably within a post-secondary academic support setting.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work positively and professionally with students, faculty, administration, and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, adjust to changing demands, and manage time-sensitive tasks while exercising sound judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, tact and courtesy when handling issues of a difficult, sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Ability to anticipate and proactively deal with issues/problems before and as they arise
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to build rapport while maintaining boundaries in relationships.
  • Strong communication capacity including oral, written, and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to compose non-routine correspondence
  • Proficient and functional knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)


Principal Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Training by responding to routine and standard student questions, predominantly via email regarding:
    • Clinical Practicum requirements and Clinical Practicum Processes
    • Logging of Clinical Hours
    • Troubleshooting basic student practicum difficulties
    • Assisting with maintaining Clinical Practicum Handbook
    • Communicating with students searching for sites regarding site status during practicum search
    • Writing standard letters required by students.
  • Supports and coordinates communication and administrative activities related to the Counselling Psychology Clinical Practicum
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals and departments across the institution.
  • Uses initiative and good judgement to respond to inquiries and/or refer matters to the Director of Training as appropriate.
  • Helps review and maintain systems and documentation that support the Counselling Psychology Clinical Practicum.
  • Prepare other orientation documents for all students each quarter.
  • Respond to inquiries from clinical agencies regarding planned student clinical site placement.
