Position SummaryKellogg Community College is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual with strong instructional skills to serve as an
Adjunct Instructor for courses within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. This individual must possess a current
EMS Provider License (MFR-Paramedic, Paramedic Preferred) at the time of application.
This
part-time adjunct position reports to the
Director of Allied Health Education. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with program standards, supporting curriculum development, and ensuring compliance with accreditation and state approval requirements. The selected candidate will be expected to maintain a regular presence on campus for instruction and student support.

Physical DemandsThe job responsibilities are performed in a classroom, lab, and presentation setting. Travel by car may be required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications - Current Michigan Licensed EMS Provider (MFR-Paramedic, Paramedic Preferred)
- BLS CPR Provider Certification
Preferred but not Required - Michigan EMS Instructor-Coordinator License
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Teaching experience in EMS education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field
- UMBC Critical Care Transport Certification (Adult or Pediatric)
- Community college teaching experience
- Experience with high-fidelity medical simulation and debriefing technology
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team and apply principles of continuous quality improvement
- Experience working with a diverse student population
- Commitment to lifelong learning and the advancement of higher education
- Experience in learner-centered pedagogy and instructional technology
Proposed SalaryBased on the current board-approved rate.

Job DutiesEssential Function: Instruction
Description: • Provide instruction in accordance with KCC and Allied Health Department policies.
• Engage with faculty and industry partners to ensure a current and relevant EMS curriculum.
• Develop and deliver course materials, learning activities, and assessments.
• Integrate medical simulation and emerging technologies into instruction.
• Coordinate lab activities with didactic course content.
• Provide academic advising, mentorship, and remediation to students.
• Submit grades and class records in compliance with policies and deadlines.
• Identify and mentor qualified EMS adjunct faculty.
• Ensure program accreditation compliance and state approval.
• Serve as an EMS program representative for students and the community.
• Collaborate with local businesses, K-12 schools, and post-secondary institutions.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement processes and strategic planning.
• Engage in professional development and lifelong learning.
