The Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) has experienced dynamic growth in student, faculty, staff and research in recent years and has ambitious plans for the future. As a member of the FCS Executive Team, the Director of Operations will take a lead role in helping the Faculty achieve its strategic goals. Leading a team of professionals who look after areas including student recruitment, communications and marketing, and student and alumni engagement, the incumbent will have demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional teams, executing complex projects, and working in an ever-changing environment to meet objectives effectively and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee faculty wide project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, planning operationally and ensuring technical feasibility. Develop a cohesive strategy to ensure successful execution of projects.
  • Design, develop and execute external facing Faculty operations/projects and student success programming in line with the Faculty’s expansion plan.
  • Build consensus and relationships among partners, managers, and employees of the Faculty to support its strategic vision.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships that advance the discipline of Computer Science through K-12 initiatives, startup companies and industry that help increase the profile of the Faculty and feed into its expansion.
  • Responsible for ensuring resource availability and allocation to meet project needs.
  • Manage a complex team of professionals, ensuring projects are coordinated and executed.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Business or related field plus approximately eight to ten years of direct business/project management/operations management experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience). Must have a proven track record of success and be highly motivated to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment. Excellent interpersonal and client support skills are essential. Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills (one-on-one or large groups, scientific or business audience) and negotiation skills required. Leadership skills, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities required. Excellent track record in operational management and project management. Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a diverse team with different professional portfolios. PMI certification would be an asset.
