Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant position in the Career Development Center (CDC) will connect with students and alumni to promote the programs, resources, and technology offered through the CDC.
Essential Duties
The Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Career Development Center will assist with programming and operations.
Job focus will include:
  • Supervising student employees while working events and in the office setting
  • Organizing and executing career-centered events, workshops, and presentations
  • Learn and manage systems in the office, such as Handshake, Big Interview, Canva, and Google Suite
  • Meet 1on1 with students or in a group setting to coach them into internships, part-time or full-time employment.
  • Help create resumes, cover letters, and conduct mock interviews
  • Represent the office and the division of Student Affairs in the most positive light

 


This is a non-teaching Graduate Assistantship.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and be accepted and enrolled in a Missouri Western State University graduate program, with a 2.75 GPA required for admission.

Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and the student population.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites preferred
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Dependable, Reliable
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Exceptional attention to detail (e.g., data entry, tracking dates of all emails and phone calls)
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Additional Demands
Graduate Assistants will be given autonomy to plan career events and programs. The GA will be treated as a colleague and part of the Student Affairs division at Missouri Western State University.

Hours of Work
  • Anticipate 20 hours per week.
  • Hours of work may vary.
  • Desired start date: 9/29/2025
  • Prorated Tuition
  • $2500 Stipend per semester
