Associate Research Scientist in the Area of Earth & Environmental Engineering

The Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist in the area of earth & environmental engineering. Basic responsibilities conducting research in land-atmosphere interactions and in particular the role of land feedbacks , including vegetation and soil moisture, onto global water availability.

Candidates for professional officer of research positions are expected to have established their ability to conduct original, independent scientific research in Earth and Environmental Engineering.

To hold the rank of the rank of associate research scientist, candidates’ qualifications and contributions to their fields of research must be equivalent to those of an assistant professor. All candidates for all officer of research positions are expected to be able to work well in a team and to communicate effectively the results of their research or research activities both orally and in writing. Expertise with global Earth system models, computation with python and physical understanding of land-atmosphere interactions.
