Position Summary:
The Department of Philosophy, Anthropology, and Religion at Central Michigan University invites applications for a one-year full-time Lecturer I position in Religion to begin August 2026. The successful candidate will teach four sections per semester (4/4). This position has the possibility of renewal, subject to favorable evaluation and annual enrollment projections.
The successful candidate will teach lower division courses including REL 102: The Meaning of Life and possibly REL 140: Religion, Race and Discrimination in America, as well as upper division courses in Buddhist Traditions, Hinduism, and/or Asian lived religions in North America. Sections will be in-person, taught on our campus in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in the academic study of Religion or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching undergraduate religion courses.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or advanced ABD status in the academic study of Religion or a closely related field.
- Ability to teach Buddhism, East Asian, or South Asian religions.
