Welcome to Princeton’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. We are one of six departments within Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. The School is set within a major liberal arts university, which means that teaching and research go hand-in-hand. A low faculty-to-student ratio provides students with focused attention and the opportunity to lead significant projects. The unparalleled resources of the broader University foster wide-ranging collaborations that broaden impact.
Our research is vast in scope, disruptive in nature, and comprehensive in its approach to problems.
Princeton faculty members are recognized as world leaders in their fields, equally dedicated to excellence in teaching and research. Several are members of national academies, and most are fellows of various professional societies. Many of our faculty have won both prestigious research awards and awards for their contributions to education.
Our distinctive four-year undergraduate degree program leads to an ABET-accredited bachelor of science in engineering. The program combines rigorous training in engineering fundamentals and applications with elective courses in a wide range of exciting areas.
Our graduate program emphasizes the highest quality in graduate education and mentorship, leading students to push the boundaries of their fields. Ph.D. candidates in this department take advantage of a huge wealth of resources, including major funding from public and private institutions that bring together some of the greatest minds in the field.
Students in electrical engineering partake in a wide-ranging web of interdisciplinary research institutes and centers at Princeton, including the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment (ACEE); the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML); the Center for Information Technology Policy (CITP); the Princeton Research Materials Institute (PMI); the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics (PACM); the Princeton Center For Complex Materials (PCCM); the Center for Mid-InfraRed Technologies for Health and the Environment (MIRTHE); and the Gigascale Systems Research Center (GSRC).
