Research Assistant / Lab Manager

Position Summary

Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (DCOM) in Harrogate, TN invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant/Lab Manager. This role provides essential support for DCOM’s research laboratories, including day-to-day operations, technical assistance, safety and compliance oversight, and hands-on support for faculty and student research projects.

The successful candidate will contribute to an academic environment committed to discovery, innovation, and mission-driven medical education.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of DCOM research laboratories

  • Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment, supply inventory, and ordering

  • Ensure safety compliance, maintain SOPs, and coordinate with campus safety

  • Support faculty and students in conducting experiments and using research equipment

  • Assist with laboratory procedures including PCR, ELISA, microscopy, bacterial/cell culture, media preparation, and autoclaving

  • Maintain research documentation, QC logs, and laboratory records

  • Support coordination of clinical research activities and data collection

  • Help train students and new users on laboratory procedures and safety

  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, protocols, and grant-related tasks as needed

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a closely related scientific field

  • Prior experience in a research laboratory setting (academic, industry, or clinical)

  • Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in biomedical or clinical research

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety regulations and compliance standards

  • Experience assisting or mentoring students in a lab environment
