About URI: The University of Rhode Island enrolls approximately 17,000 students across its graduate and undergraduate programs and is the State's flagship public research university, as well as the land grant and sea grant university, for the state of Rhode Island. The main campus is located in the historic village of Kingston, and the Bay Campus is located in Narragansett. Both campuses are near major beaches in a beautiful coastal community. URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City.

This is an 18-month teaching position within the Department of Psychology for the period of Spring 2026 and the 2026-27 academic year. The position will begin 5 days prior to the first day of the semester and conclude on Commencement Day. The teaching load for each semester will include primarily psychology undergraduate courses. The department has two domains of immediate need 1) an expert in social and personality psychology - including the social basis of behavior, personality psychology and positive psychology and 2) an expert in the biological basis of behavior - including behavioral neuroscience, biopsychology, psychophysiology, cognitive neuroscience and psycho-endocrinology. While these are 2 areas of immediate need in the department, we will consider strong applicants with other areas of expertise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
1. A PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience or a closely related field.
2. A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a higher education setting.
3. Teaching ability that complements existing Psychology curriculum.
4. Proficiency in oral communication skills.
5. Proficiency in written communication skills.
6. Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
PREFERRED:
1. Teaching in a 4-year degree granting Psychology BA and/or BS program.
