Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology

Job Description

 

 

The Department of Psychology at Lamar University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology, beginning Fall of 2026. The area of specialization is open; however, candidates with a sufficient background in Biological Psychology or Neuroscience to teach a Behavioral Neuroscience course at the undergraduate and graduate levels are preferred.

 

Successful candidates will:

·         Teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate level (e.g., General Psychology, Introduction to Statistics, Research Methods, Biological Basis of Behavior) and master’s level (e.g., Behavioral Neuroscience, Multivariate Data Analysis)

·         Maintain an active program of research that attempts to include undergraduate and graduate students

·         Mentor undergraduate and graduate student research

·         Serve on graduate student thesis committees

·         Actively engage in service to the department, college, and university

Preferred and Required Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of a PhD in Psychology. ABD applicants will be considered; however, the applicant must have earned their doctorate prior to hire date.
