Position Title: Laboratory Instructor/Monitor Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus) Advertised Salary: Salary to Commensurate with Qualifications FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Part-Time At Will/Just Cause: At Will Summary of Position: Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures with the Institute for Construction Education and Training (ICET). Monitor written and practical certification examinations.
This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. Position Type: Staff Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Required Work Experience: Two years experience working in the road construction industry related to quality control of highway construction materials. Required Licenses and Certifications: Current certifications as appropriate to program assignment such as Michigan Certified Aggregate Technician, Michigan Certified Bituminous Laboratory Technician, Level 1 and/or Michigan Certified Density Technician. Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Duties/Responsibilities: Available to travel and work at varied days and times.
Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must successfully interact with visitors, faculty, staff and students.
Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures.
Monitor written and practical certification examinations. Skills and Abilities: Must have an understanding of the Michigan Department of Transportation laboratory and testing procedures, the American Society for Testing and Materials Standards, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standards as they apply to the road construction industry.
