Xavier University of Louisiana's University Library seeks a dynamic, engaging, and collaborative professional to lead the University Library's scholarly communication efforts in coordination with internal and external partners. Reporting to the Head of Research and Technology, the Scholarly Communications Librarian identifies, develops, and promotes strategic scholarly communication services and programs. The incumbent engages others around academic communication issues through outreach, education, training, and collaborative projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for outreach, information literacy instruction, research support, and collection development in assigned disciplines and programs. The Scholarly Communication Librarian will help provide leadership and support for two primary services: the institutional repository and XULA Digital Commons, as well as lead scholarly communications, academic publishing, and copyright services. The Scholarly Communication Librarian should have a good understanding of these products and carry out routine tasks such as batch uploading or metadata reconciliation. They will also receive assistance with front and back end technical support by the Systems Librarian; work with subject specialty librarians on collections development and data acquisition, and assess users' unique needs around this technology and research outputs. The Scholarly Communication Librarian will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Library's Data Services to create services and policies related to research data management.
