Position Description:

The University of Northern Iowa’s School of Music invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cello with a secondary area of specialization, starting August 2021. This position will provide individual instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in cello performance, including a weekly studio class, and teach on rotation the low strings techniques course and undergraduate courses in the candidate’s secondary area of specialization. Secondary areas of specialization include music education, music theory, music business, music technology or music therapy. Additional responsibilities include recruiting potential students and maintaining an active performance and service portfolio.

Doctoral degree in Music with evidence of degree completion by August 2021 required.

Required qualifications include recognition of excellence as a cellist with demonstrated skills and understanding of a broad range of performance styles required, along with a minimum of two years of experience at the collegiate level as a studio and classroom teacher.
