The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice seeks to hire a lecturer and retention specialist. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach the University Seminar courses and sociology/criminal justice courses. University Seminar is a two semester, general education course sequence designed to provide students with the essentials for a smooth transition to college life and academic success. In addition, this position is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to improve retention for sociology and criminal justice majors, including assistance with registration and recruitment. This position is an integral part of the Department, requiring strong coordination with faculty and academic advisors. This position will also require close coordination the Office of Students Success, athletic advisors, financial aid, and student affairs.
Qualifications: Must have a MA in Sociology or Criminal Justice and at least three years teaching or advising in higher education. Experience working with college students similar to the DSU student profile preferred.
