The Chalasani lab at Salk is seeking ambitious and motivated post-doctoral fellows to join their Sonogenetics team.
The goal of this project is to develop a new non-invasive method to manipulate neurons and non-neuronal cells (www.sonogenetics.salk.edu). Our manuscript demonstrating the efficacy of this method in mice was recently posted on bioarxiv (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.10.14.338699v1). We are planning to identify and validate new channel candidates and variants for use across model systems to achieve both excitation and inhibition non invasively. Additionally, this project involves collaborating with engineers, bioinformaticians, protein biochemists and theoretical modelers. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in electrophysiology (in vitro and in vivo) and/or mouse behavior and neural circuit analysis.
Please contact the PI (schalasani@salk.edu) with your resume and names of referees who can speak to your skills.
