Job Description

 

Lane Community College, a comprehensive community college in beautiful Eugene, Oregon, is seeking an innovative and participatory Writing Instructor for fostering an inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach Writing courses in In-Person, Online, and/or Hybrid formats, as well as knowledge of Technical Writing and Outcomes-Based Assessment. Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Education:

Master’s degree in Composition & Rhetoric, Writing Studies, Technical Writing, English, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. 30 graduate quarter hours or 20 graduate semester hours in English or related coursework.

Required Experience:

Recent college teaching experience (within the past 5 years). At least one (1) full year or part-time equivalent.

Conditions of Employment:

Successful applicants are required to pass a criminal background check. 

Preferred Education:

  • 20 or more graduate credit hours or 15 or more semester hours in composition and rhetoric studies, composition theory, writing studies, or similar.
  • Two (2) or more graduate courses in literature or literary theory.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing Hybrid, Hyflex, and/or Online courses.
  • Experience teaching Technical or Workplace writing.
  • Experience with writing placement assessment using Multiple Measures for Placement and/or Directed Self Placement.
  • Experience with outcomes-based assessment of student learning or placement assessment in a composition and rhetoric context.

Bilingual/Multicultural Statement:

Multicultural experience and bilingual proficiency in World languages is preferred.

A demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance the concepts of social justice and culturally competent behaviors is expected.
