Job Description

Otis College of Art and Design seeks an inspiring Chair of its Foundation Program to guide first-year students in the undergraduate program with diverse backgrounds, to collaborate with program faculty, a dedicated group of artists and designers, and college administration of various areas. The Chair of Foundation oversees all educational and operational aspects of the program including but not limited to curriculum development, faculty, student advisement, and resource planning as well as Foundation enrollment management. Otis College of Art and Design is Los Angeles’ first professional school of art. Otis College educates a diverse community of students to become highly skilled, well informed, and responsible professionals- empowering them to shape the world. The College ranks in the top 1% of all colleges and universities in the nation and ethnic and racial diversity of students and is committed to expand diversity of the faculty to develop and provide inclusive and equitable learning environment. Independent, nonprofit, and regionally and nationally accredited, Otis College offers M.F.A and B.F.A. degrees. B.F.A. majors include Architecture/Landscape/Interiors, Communication Arts, Digital Media, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Product Design, and Toy Design. The foundation program provides core studies to first-year students in B.F.A for life-long learning and professional practices in the visual arts by exploring fundamental skills of art and design, critical thinking, and making skills transferrable to all of the College’s majors in B.F.A. degree. The five-acre main campus is located on L.A.’s Westside near the beach and LAX where approximately 1,100 full time students are enrolled in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Foundation studios are sprinkled throughout the campus to assist students to find their community and interest during their first-year experience at Otis college. Students enjoy exploring Otis College facilities including Painting studios, Photography Lab, Lighting studio and Green Screen, Video Lab, Laboratory Press, Wood and Metal Shop, Model Shop, Printmaking Shop, Sculpture Studio, Ceramics Studio, Library, Learning Center, Residence Housing, Student Health and Wellness Center, and more.
