This position primarily performs its duties on the Kentfield Campus and occasional travel to the Indian Valley (Novato) campus may be required, so if not already residing within the Bay Area, the successful candidate must be willing to relocate.

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position involves the planning, coordination and implementation of programs and activities for the Child Study Center. Under general supervision of the Director of Child Study Center Program, the Child Study Center Specialist III assists the Child Study Center Site Coordinator in providing programs and services including compliance with Community Care Licensing, legal policies, and regulations. The Child Study Center Specialist III leads the work of Child Study Center Specialist II, student apprentices, volunteers, and families as assigned. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity is required to address the needs of children, families, and students in the program. Public contact is extensive, primarily involving children, their family and/or other guardians and college staff for the purpose of exchanging program information.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
A Child Study Center Specialist III is distinguished from a Child Study Center Specialist II and a Child Study Center Specialist I in that the Child Study Center Specialist III is expected to have specialized knowledge and more responsibility in the areas of leadership and curriculum planning.

Please note: Children's Center Instructional Permits obtained prior to February 1997 are considered equivalent to the Child Development Teacher's Permit (Child Development Permit Matrix). Possession of a Site supervisor Permit or a Children's Center Supervision Permit and bilingual ability in a language other than English are desirable for positions in this classification.

Employees work under classroom conditions subject to frequent public contact and interruption and to intermittent exposure to moderate to high noise levels. Contact with children, parents, and other staff is extensive.

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORYEmployees in classifications represented by the California School Employees' Association (CSEA)Chapter 196 and are required to comply fully with the CSEA/Marin Community College District (MCCD) Collective Bargaining Agreement, including payment of union dues or charitable contributions. General information regarding rights and responsibilities under the Agreement can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreements section of our Human Resources site. CSEA employees are also members of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), to which the member contributes up to 8% of their reportable compensation on a monthly basis.

SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Salary Grade: CSEA 122
Starting Salary Range: $40.31 - $44.43 per hour (step 1 to 3). Normal entering step is Step 1.

SELECTION PROCESS

CSEA Full-time Employees:

Retirement through CalPERS - MCCD contributes 27.05% of employee's creditable earnings to CalPERS on a monthly basis (2024/2025). Vested after five (5) years. Mandatory employee contribution for 2024/2025 is 7% - 8%, depending on original date of membership and prior membership status.
Life Insurance - $50,000, with the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for the Lesser of 5x base annual salary or $500,000
Additional Retirement Savings Plans - Employees are also eligible to participate in a voluntary, tax-advantaged 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings plan.
