Job Description:

Kansas City University's Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant (MHS-AA) program is seeking a Course Director/Adjunct Instructor of Anatomy and Physiology to join our growing team within the College of Health Professions. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about physiology instruction and student success.

The position requires delivering a 2-hour lecture every Monday across three academic terms, when school is in session (excluding finals weeks and academic breaks). The successful candidate will coordinate, lead, and assess the Human Anatomy and Physiology coursework specifically designed for future Student Anesthesiologist Assistants (SAAs). The Course Director will collaborate with Anatomy Lab Instructor to ensure alignment of lecture and lab activities.

This role supports the launch of KCU's Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program-a 28-month clinical master's degree aimed at training highly skilled AAs to serve as essential members of the Anesthesia Care Team. The program is set to welcome its inaugural class in January 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured 2-hour lectures every Monday during academic terms (excluding final exams and breaks)
  • Author NBME style MCQ items and other assessments
  • Grade assessments, quizzes, exams, and provide remediation as needed
  • Lead and coordinate open review sessions (may include after-hours/weekend commitments)
  • May opt in to participate with Anatomy Lab Instructor for cadaveric dissection/prosection and lab teaching, if desired
  • Maintain regular office hours and arrive at least 30 minutes before each class/lab session
  • Support student learning, mentorship, and research as directed by the Program Director
  • Assist with instructional material development, data collection/analysis, and research documentation



Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a life science or health-related field
  • Completion of at least two semesters of Human Physiology coursework
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical physiology, and lab safety protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to student success
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical experience in patient care or experience in cadaver dissection/prosection and academic laboratory instruction
  • Experience using medical imaging (CT, MRI, US) as teaching tools
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the collegiate or professional level
