Field Coordinator and Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Primary Purpose:
The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences, invites applicants to apply for a full-time, twelve (12) month Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor position.
The MSW Program offers a specialized practice concentration in health care and social work, with opportunities for students to focus further in health-related and behavioral health areas. The curriculum follows the competency-based education model of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and integrates inter-professional and simulation lab training activities.
The accelerated hybrid program includes a sixteen (16) month accelerated sequence for students with any bachelor's degree except for social work and a twelve (12) month advanced standing option for students with a bachelor's degree in social work.
The MSW Field Coordinator faculty at the University of the Pacific is responsible for providing all aspects of didactic and clinical education for the Program and participating in cross-teaching activities within the School of Health Sciences, emphasizing Field Education.
Familiarity with field-related aspects of CSWE accreditation standards preferred.
Scholarship activities are valued at the University of the Pacific and are incorporated into all faculty roles.
Essential Functions:
Scholarship Expectations:
One of the core values of the Program and the University is Collaboration, which is defined as "partnering for the common good." Thus, collaborative projects with community organizations and public agencies, within the MSW program, and with other health sciences or other programs in the University will be encouraged.
Service Expectations:
Service is expected to the Program, the University, the community and the MSW profession. This may include committee work and other activities such as participation in faculty development activities, student-faculty functions, and in graduation and convocation ceremonies.
General Workload Distribution:
Workload varies by trimester, but is assigned by the Program Director in consultation with the Director of Field Education. Emphasis is placed on balancing the academic requirements teaching, scholarship, and service over the course of each year. The specific workload and scheduling will be adjusted based on the needs of the faculty members and the program.
Promotion and Tenure & Annual Faculty Evaluations:This is a non-tenure track position. The initial academic rank of Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor will be determined by the promotion and tenure committee, based upon the individual's qualifications and experience.
Faculty members maintain a dossier, which provides documentation of their activities and accomplishments during their academic careers. This document is valuable for planning and maintaining balance in activities and serves as essential documentation for promotion review by the University.
Faculty members' activities and accomplishments in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service are evaluated yearly by the MSW Program Director, with these evaluations being forwarded to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. Yearly evaluations may also be used to determine merit salary increases.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:

The specific workload and scheduling will be adjusted based on the needs of the faculty members and the program. Travel required up to twenty percent (20%) of total time based on field program needs.
Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
