Salary Range: $60,000- $65,000 based on a 9-month appointment.

Hours: Full-time fixed term track, 4-4 with course releases for administrative work, exempt.

Essential Functions

Assistant Professor of Practice position for the Department of Counseling in College of Education and Human Development responsibilities include:

  1. Teach two graduate courses in the Department of Counseling each semester and Undergraduate courses in the Behavioral Science degree program.
  2. Provide critically important administrative leadership as the Undergraduate Advisor of Record (UGAR).
  3. Provide leadership in developing and leading the new Behavioral Science Undergraduate program, serving as the "face" of the program and engaging in recruitment activities.
  4. Will assist with core faculty-student ratio data in the graduate program and engage in administrative tasks essential for program launch and success.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and a Texas LCDC.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience in an addictions or substance abuse or treatment program leading to Texas LCDC certification.
  • Knowledge of Texas LCDC certification requirements.
  • Proven leadership in an education program leading to Texas LCDC certifications, including managing teams, timelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Prior teaching experience in a CACREP accredited Counseling program.

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on UTSA Downtown campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
