The Communications Specialist is responsible for promoting the academic program, exhibition programs, and visiting artist and critic events. The Communications Specialist plays a supportive role in strengthening departmental and College efforts to recruit and retain undergraduate and graduate students, attract visibility to our events and programming, and support continuing students with timely information about opportunities. This position supports a holistic approach to student and faculty success by contributing to the visibility and attractiveness of the program, which will shore up recruitment and retention efforts and support the department’s outreach and development efforts. The Department has a close relationship with the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art and the Communication Specialist would liaise with the Allicar Museum’s staff to cross-pollinate publicity and visibility of programming. The Communications Specialist also serves as the Internship Coordinator to facilitate the management and exchange of information about internships and internship opportunities between students, on-site internship supervisors and faculty internship advisors; this aspect of the position also contributes to the department’s recruitment efforts.
