This is a new position in Human Resources reporting to the Chief Total Rewards Officer.
The Benefits Supervisor will act as the first point of contact and supervisor for the benefits administrator, accounting and data team, Employee Assistance Program, CARE Program and HR Service Center.
The Benefits Supervisor will oversee leave and disability programs including FML, financial accounting, regulatory/state compliance, policy interpretation, vendor relationships, enrollment system configuration and support of the health and welfare plan administration while supervising and organizing daily work accountabilities.
Supervision duties include staff performance and conflict management conversations in consultation with the Chief Total Rewards Officer.
This position is a working supervisor who coaches and mentors staff in achieving success in their positions while promoting advancements in the work of the team while supporting the strategic role of the Chief Total Rewards Officer and Human Resources as a whole.
The Benefits Supervisor position:
Interprets, communicates, and recommends implementation of benefit program features;
Recommends policy/procedure updates to the Chief Total Rewards Officer;
Provides input on performance management reviews; assists with hiring, conflict resolution and motivation of staff;
Supervises the planning, organizing, monitoring, and team training of a variety of benefit programs and HR Service Center work;
Oversees insurance plans for active employees, retirees, COBRA participants and survivors;
Requires outstanding accounting skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel capabilities;
Demonstrates experience in benefits enrollment systems and accounting systems;
Must be punctual, personable, professionally attired, results driven, motivated, confident to work in a professional quick paced environment, and possess a drive for service excellence through in-person interaction and in writing;
The successful candidate will be a highly organized, sharp, motivated individual with excellent interpretive, analytic, and high-level written and oral communication skills to achieve the units exemplary customer service standards, uphold HR values and demonstrate the ability to supervise a high caliber team;
This position requires a high level of meticulosity to oversee deadlines and work flow organization in a proactive, rapid and thorough manner with limited oversight from the Chief Total Rewards Officer;
The incumbent will possess a full range of prior supervisory experience including performance management and conflict resolution experience.
Benefit programs for the University’s classified personnel are defined by the State of Colorado, but administered by Human Resources. The Board of Governors for the Colorado State University System authorizes benefit programs by way of Human Resources recommendations for faculty and non-classified staff.
