Assistant Professor, Social Entrepreneurship
Position Summary:
The Department of Social Entrepreneurship at Rollins College is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Entrepreneurship position beginning in August 2026. The position includes teaching undergraduate Social Entrepreneurship courses. Our Social Entrepreneurship courses focus on practical application of business skills to tackle social, political, economic, and environmental problems locally, domestically, and internationally; the UN Sustainable Development Goals are integrated throughout our coursework. The normal teaching load will be six courses a year, typically three courses per semester.
We seek a candidate having graduate coursework, research, and/or professional experience demonstrating the ability to teach in at least one field of the required SE curriculum. These areas include but are not limited to SE-oriented classes in marketing, financing, strategy, and supply chain. The candidate should also have broad and deep knowledge of social entrepreneurship and the ability to teach our introductory course Social Entrepreneurship: Leading Change, a community engagement course Strategies for Changemakers, and additional SE-prefix courses depending on secondary areas of expertise. Having expertise to develop new social entrepreneurship electives focusing on artificial intelligence, social impact consulting, or social venture planning & new business creation is an asset. Having experience with developing and integrating new community engagement partnerships and experiential learning projects into classes is an asset.
Demonstrating the ability to link one's own practical experience with social entrepreneurship to classroom learning strategies is an asset. In addition to curriculum development, the position requires participation in assurance of learning (AOL), academic advising, research, and service activities; advising and college-level service activities are not required the first year. The ability and willingness to develop and sustain an active research agenda and output is expected.
The minimum requirement is a doctorate in Social Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Management, or a closely affiliated business discipline, preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution - ABDs will be considered. Experience teaching at the undergraduate college-level is required and practical experience as a social entrepreneur/entrepreneur is highly desirable.
Candidates must have the ability to develop and deliver curriculum; meet the demands of the position in a timely manner; and assess student learning outcomes. In addition, candidates should have strong oral and written communication, strong interpersonal, and strong teamwork skills. Rollins expects inclusion of high impact teaching practices. Social Entrepreneurship courses are interdisciplinary, require active learning strategies (not lecture-reliant), and involve such practices as: out-of-the-classroom experiential learning, community engagement projects, human centered design-thinking, business model canvas projects, public poster sessions, and pitch competitions. Ability and willingness to embed these course components is expected. Demonstrated experience with human-centered design thinking, the business model canvas, lean start-up method, and community engaged teaching is an asset.
The Department of Social Entrepreneurship provides distinctive opportunities by offering an AACSB-accredited Social Entrepreneurship major, in addition to a Social Entrepreneurship minor. The Social Entrepreneurship major was designated 2018 semi-finalist for the most prestigious social entrepreneurship education award across the globe, the Ashoka U Innovation Award.
