Job Description
The Retention Specialist provides academic support and coaching, mentoring, advising, and counseling for students from first generation, low-income, and disability backgrounds for students in the Classic SSS and SSI programs. The activities include providing wraparound student support services for first year, continuing and transfer students in the following categories: college transition, academic success, financial education, career and leadership development, graduate school preparation, connection and community, and support. This position will also be responsible for developing, managing, and evaluating the Thrive Grad Program. The Retention Specialist will recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff for the Thrive Grad Program. The holistic approach to serving students throughout their entire CSU journey promotes retention and graduation.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Academic Advancement Center.
