Description of Position:
The Music Adjunct Instructor position is responsible for providing high quality classroom instruction to a diverse student population. This position is also responsible for working collaboratively with other faculty in the music department and the college to continually support student success. The Music Assistant Professor is to teach required college level music classes, including: Jazz and Vocal Popular Techniques, Gospel Choir, College Chorus, Music Theory, Musicianship (ear-training), Music Literature and other courses. The professor will be a part of a close-knit faculty team that collaborates closely with shared projects, curriculum development, student engagement strategies, and college initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
4. meeting with students outside of class;
5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
8. maintaining accurate academic records;
9. performing other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
Master's in music OR Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities OR the equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the collegiate level or general music teaching experience, with special weight given to one or more of the following: Music History, Sight-singing, Theory, Concert Band, Orchestra, Afro-Cuban and Hip-Hop/R&B ensembles. Applicant should have strong musicianship in any two or more in any of these areas: teacher in classical, Afro-Cuban, Hip-hop, urban music or contemporary music; or performer, composer, producer, conductor or arranger. Applicant's interest in developing a more modern cutting-edged non-traditional program is encouraged.
