Job Description
Covered under University series concepts/job specification for Custodian. Under supervision of the Farm Superintendent, incumbent performs cleaning, housekeeping and general maintenance. Involves the cleaning and housekeeping of buildings and exterior areas, including administrative offices, conference space, kitchenette, research laboratory areas and restrooms using various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants. Follows established infection-control practices to ensure a clean and safe environment. Monitors custodial inventory and may inspect equipment for repair and/or replacement. May manage linen services operations. May include trash and recycling removal and meeting room set-up.
Department Summary:
The Hansen Agricultural Research and Extension Center (HAREC) located on the Oxnard Plain in Ventura County is one of nine research and extension centers of the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The Center provides land, labor and facilities for research that supports the rich and diverse agricultural and natural resources of Ventura County. The HAREC facility encompasses 114 acres, including organic and conventional research fields, several small greenhouses, storage barn and containers, and administrative and education buildings. The work location is 5352 Beardsley Road, Camarillo, CA 93010.
This position is a limited term appointment that is 15% variable.
Pay Scale: $20.05/hour to $21.60/hour

Key Responsibilities:
Dust mops, sweeps, damp mops, wet mops. Operate vacuum cleaners and other basic equipment. Cleans stairs, hallways, corridors, walls, moldings, boards, outside steps, terraces, window sills, exteriors and other designated areas. Dusts, cleans and/or polishes cabinets, desks, furnishings, conference or dining tables, wall paneling and metal surfaces. Cleans venetian blinds, grills, intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures, counters, chairs and tables. Cleans doors, glass panels, inside and outside windows at ground level; cleans metal fixtures and handrails. Empties and cleans a variety of trash and recycle receptacles.
Cleans restrooms, toilets, urinals, fixtures, mirrors and replenishes soap and paper goods. Maintains cleaning and linen supply inventory.
Attends to minor maintenance such as unclogging drains, replacing batteries, and performing minor repairs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Locks unoccupied areas/offices after cleaning in accordance with University and HAREC guidelines. Reports lost and found property to proper authorities. Safeguards keys.
May submit written supply requests. Assists with written work orders, damage reports, and common area furniture inventories. Follows established procedures for dealing with hazards and potential hazards.
