Job Description

Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry is seeking applications from specialist in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology for a full-time tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences. 50% of the academic time will be dedicated to Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology, and 50% to Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. The Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology responsibilities will include didactic and clinical teaching of graduate and undergraduate students in the Faculty of Dentistry, as well as participation in the Oral Biopsy Service. One day per week will be devoted to private clinical practice in Oral Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.

Responsibilities in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology will include didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Dentistry.

Additional expectations include participation in research, continuing education and extracurricular involvement, including Faculty committees.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Candidates must have successfully completed both the Canadian National Dental Specialty Examination and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada Fellowship examination in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology. Candidates must also be eligible for licensure with the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. The Faculty does not currently offer academic licensure.

Preference will be given to candidates with teaching, clinical, and research experience. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience, and achievements.
